Dr. Ranjan Kalita is a physicist specialising in optical imaging and microscopy, with a Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati. His doctoral research focused on developing a laser scanning confocal microscope with programmably switchable vector beam illumination, aiming to enhance imaging capabilities through advanced beam manipulation techniques. Dr. Kalita has worked extensively on designing cost-effective, modular, research-grade optical microscopes. His work includes developing systems that utilise polarisation-resolved differential phase contrast for single-shot quantitative phase imaging, and he contributed to the implementation of easySTORM, a super-resolved fluorescence imaging technique, on low-cost, modular open-source microscopes, making advanced imaging more accessible. His research also includes computer-generated holography-based laser beam manipulation techniques.
